REFLECTION ON KNK TABLE

This is the first day we get the question for our PBL. At first I was a bit unconfident whether we are able to complete the task or not as I can feel that it might need some times to do all the work. It is very challenging at first, then our lecturer ask all of us to do the KNK table by listing all the known, the unknown and how are we make it better and what we can do to find the solutions. For me this is very helpful as I can imagine how the first step to complete the task.

PBL stands for problem based learning which we learnt by solving the problem given. We also had been given some materials such as journals, manuscript and also videos of chapter 6-Multiple Reaction in order to complete the task. This PBL contains two parts which were reaction process and separation process. The question given was designing membrane reactor in order to produce 30000 tonne of hydrogen gas per year by steam reforming process. For the first week, we did problem restatement and knk table during the class. We listed what were known and unknowns stated in the question. From that, we can evaluated the solutions need in order to find the unknowns.

KNK table is actually stand for known and unknown information which means during the first week of ProblemBased Learning(PBL), we were asked to bring the PBL questions and the materials. The question basically asked us as an intern in a conpany to design a membrane reactor that can produce 30000 tonne of hydrogen gas per year. Basically during this session, first of all, we were asked to restate the problem statement regarding to our understanding and make a table that dividing into three columns which are the first column was the list of known information, the second column was the list of unknown information and the third column was the list of solutions for the unknown information. We were given a time to complete the table. After that, the representative of each group need to explain both the tasks to other groups, so that other group can notify what were missing informantion in their group.

From this knk table activity, basically we can brainstorming among our group members regarding the informations that we do not know and the informations that we already know. From there actually, we can figure out what type formulas that we can used in order to solve the problem. Besides, i can start to find and reads the materials and references.
